We wanted to take a moment to thank you and your organization for the great attention and service provided during the ASA training/certification we received at SailTime Tampa Bay March 20 – 27, 2011. The Hunter 44DS was in pristine condition, and the boat was properly equipped and fitted, from the navigation tools to the galley utensils. The bow thruster was a pleasant surprise! Our crew of 4 had diverse prior experience, ranging from novice to offshore mariner, but Captain Bob Vance managed to keep us all engaged and focused, to the point where we all agree that we each came away with exactly what we needed. We could not have asked for a better shipmate for our journey.
We were doing the training/certification in preparation for a bareboat charter of the Greek Islands this summer, and, thanks to Captain Bob, we are now confident of our preparation, right down to Mediterranean moorings! From a training perspective, we found the Tampa Bay area to be ideal….lots of navigation concerns: shipping lanes; narrow channels; inland, offshore and inter-coastal systems; commercial traffic; weekend warriors; bridges; and quiet anchorages. The weather was superb….temperatures in the 80’s, and wind from 3 to 26 kts, from a variety of directions. When we did go ashore, we found gourmet dining in both St. Pete and Tampa.
Beyond the professionalism and quality we had expected, and received, we were very impressed with the measures we saw that went “above and beyond” what we expected: allowing us to stay aboard the night before our training began, and the night of our return; the wine and beer in the fridge upon our arrival; unencumbered use of the marina facility; and treatment by yourself and your staff as if we were part of your regular community.
