SailTime Tampa Bay Students Lorie & Bill took our Combo 1 Course & are now SailTime Tampa Bay Members!
To those that wish to learn to sail...
We arrived at SailTime Tampa Bay with much anticipation and excitement, as living in Ohio, we had relatively little to no previous sailing experience. We were fortunate to have the summer to do some reading up on sailing before we arrived, which proved to be very helpful during our training. We were greeted the first day by Captain Bob, who was an absolute delight to work with over the course of the next few days! The first day, we went over some logistics, he did some "interviewing" questions to see how prepared we were, then decided to take us right out on the boat the very first day! It was exhilarating to be sailing on Day 1!!!
We sailed most of the day, learning some basic maneuvers, getting the feel of the boat, and understanding all that goes along with getting the boat in and out of the dock. Day 2 was a fun-filled day of classroom, held right on the boat. Only Captain Bob could make a full day of classroom time fly by! Day 3, we were back out on the boat. This time, everything made much more sense, and we were able to start having more fun with the boat.
Captain Bob was easy to work with, offering advice and tips when needed, yet letting us do as much as we could on our own without saying too much. It was a great learning environment. Day 4 was optional, be we opted to take the Captain up on his offer of an all day sail to learn the channels and practice up on our skills. Overall, SailTime Tampa Bay has been one of the best experiences we have had. Thru guided professional instruction, we were able to quickly learn the in's and out's of basic sail techniques, and feel safe to sail on our boat. Captain Bob was an awesome instructor, and we plan on many more memorable times with him and SailTime Tampa Bay. We were so happy to have found SailTime Tampa Bay, as it fits in perfectly with our part time living in the Bay area!
